ACTIVITIES

Hello! My name is Alexandra Hubbard and I am resurrecting a pre-9/11 attempt to develop a local Citizen's for Independent Public Broadcasting contact list.

At the national level, CIPB has developed a detailed proposal for a Public broadcasting Trust (PBT) that is independently funded, publicly accountable and true to the service's founding mission. At the community level, CIPB builds chapters, and is working with national partner organizations to democratize community public broadcasting service. Toward these goals CIPB offers a training manual, video and a national clearinghouse for organizing.

Unfortunately I let 9-11 and other endeavors interfere with following through on a local push to start an area group for this effort, thus freeing all public broadcasting from the dependence and influence of major corporations. Well, now it seems that pressure is building and broadcast frequencies may actually be taxed, but not necessarily in favor of public broadcasting. Dr. Jerry Starr needs us now more than ever. Please check out www.cipbonline.org. If you are interested in this effort perhaps we can help each other do what we can to further the influence of this organization.

Sincerely,
Alex
