ACTIVITIES
We
are very interested in forming a local organization to work
to return fairness in broadcasting to our area. At the present
time we have approximately 25 to 30 people that we can count
on to become dues paying memebers in an organization to promote
diversity in local radio.
Our
problem is that one corporation owns all four radio stations
in this area and they have never allowed any diverse viewpoints
to be broacast on their radio stations. We are looking to
start a bilingual Spanish/English talk show and the local
station manager has stated that a talk show would not fit
in to their format. This is even after we pointed out that
they have religious broadcasting on Sundays. They already
have Spanish language programming so it is not as if we wnat
to start something new.
