JEROLD M. STARR
(Executive Director) is Visiting Professor of Communications at the University of California at San Diego and Professor Emeritus of Sociology, West Virginia University. Starr received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Brandeis University and served on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania, 1969-76. He is Director of the Center for Social Studies Education in Pittsburgh, coordinator of a nationwide program to promote teaching of the Vietnam War in the public schools (www.teachvietnam.net).Starr also is President of Pittsburgh Educational Television (www.pittedtv.org) and producer and host of "Homefront," a public affairs forum. A social activist for many years, Starr has been founder and president of many local and national organizations, including the Association for Humanist Sociology. He has authored five books and numerous articles, including AIR WARS: The Fight to Reclaim Public Broadcasting (Temple University Press, 2001).
